Psychiatry CME Talk: 12 Steps to Better Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder

Dr. Dave Robinson a Consultant Psychiatrist with the CMHA in London, St. Thomas and Strathroy. He is also the psychiatrist for the Early Episode Psychosis Program in St. Thomas. 

Dr. Robinson has been the lead author for the Mental Health Chapter in the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines for the past 13 years.

Objectives:

• Review the expectable response rates to antidepressant monotherapy in treating MDD

• Examine some potential causes for why SSRI monotherapy may be holding people back from achieving remission

• Distinguish between the mechanisms of receptor interactions vs. reuptake inhibition

• Look at the role of atypical antipsychotics as adjuncts in treating MDD

LDAM Health and Wellness Activity

The London & District Academy of Medicine (LDAM) is pleased to announce the inaugural edition of our monthly social event series, designed to promote health and wellness through physical activity.

Our first event, “Walk with a Doc,” will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9:00 AM starting at the LDAM office (122-747 Hyde Park Road). Together, we’ll enjoy a guided walk through the beautiful Sifton Bog.

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues, promote healthy living, and enjoy time outdoors. Participants are welcome to bring along a partner, friend, or family member.

HQ.- all in support of Growing Chefs! Ontario, a local charity transforming food education for children and youth across our region.

We’re bringing back the pizza party — with a delicious new late-summer menu and all the charm of a private chef-led cooking class. This fun, interactive evening includes hands-on salad and pizza prep, followed by a sit-down shared meal you helped create!
